Sweeney Todd - Progress Pics

Description

I had previously posted links to the work in progress stuff for this that was in my sketch blog, but I thought it would be handy to just have the images in my scraps. You can view the final completed image right here.

This isn't intended to be a tutorial, more like just a behind the scenes look at things.

I've received questions before about how I work, so I thought I'd include a slight description here. Basically, I started out on an 18" x 24" sheet of watercolor paper. I drew Sweeney Todd with brown colored pencil and then painted over the drawing with watered down black ink. After scanning my drawing into my computer, I did all of the digital painting in Photoshop with my wacom tablet. The stripes and splatters were painted on watercolor paper and then scanned in separately for use.

The lettering was also done by hand on paper and then scanned in - I felt that drawing out the title logo went well with the somewhat quirky nature of a Tim Burton film. The title lettering can very easily be removed because I have it saved on a separate layer in Photoshop. The final dimensions of this picture are 20" x 30" at 600 dpi.

From December of 2007.

I personally enjoy behind the scene pictures just as much as originals. This looks great :)
