Description
For some time now I've had the desire to do my own series of Beauty and the Beast illustrations based on the original fairy tale. It's kind of an on and off project which I find myself wandering back to in between working on other things (you can find other pictures related to this project scattered throughout my main gallery and my scraps gallery).
Here's a pencil portrait of the Beast that I drew last night (just pencil on bristol board). I started coloring it in photoshop, so a colored version will be coming eventually.

I love the humanity of the Beast in this design. It's a Beast alright,but a very human one too. ^^ I think it's hard to design a good Beast like this. I usually stick to the Disney-one. (Then again, Glenn Keane's design of the Beast is awesome, I don't think it's possible to outdo him.)
