I've always liked The Phantom of the Opera, starting from way back when I saw it on the stage. When I was at the movie theatre the other day they showed a preview for the Phantom movie. I'd almost forgotten it was coming out, and when I saw the trailer I got all giggly and fangirlish. C'mon, I'm a geek! Cut me some slack ;-)

Anyhow, I thought why not do a portrait of the Phantom? It's good practice for me and I get the added benefit of getting to look at all sorts of photos of Gerard Butler for reference. So voila! Phantom fan art.

This was all done in Photoshop with my wacom tablet, using a pencil sketch I had done for a base. To see some work in progress images of this, click the links below:

I am so jealous! You're an awesome artist! I love the detail and the painterly look to it. I think his eyes are my favorite part. I can't wait for this movie to come out. :boogie:

I'm psyched for it too! Glad you like this so much - and I'm glad the kind of painterly effect came across all right. It's something I've been practicing lately.

Thank you very much! I was actually able to turn this out much more quickly than I had anticipated - started it on Sunday and finished it on Tuesday.

Nice touch with the tone of this piece. You captured the feeling of the phantom perfectly.
