Description
This is my entry for the Sweeney Todd movie poster contest.
You can view some work in progress images of this here, here, and here in my sketch blog. I've received questions before about how I work, so I thought I'd include a slight description here. Basically, I started out on an 18" x 24" sheet of watercolor paper. I drew Sweeney Todd with brown colored pencil and then painted over the drawing with watered down black ink. After scanning my drawing into my computer, I did all of the digital painting in Photoshop with my wacom tablet. The stripes and splatters were painted on watercolor paper and then scanned in separately for use.
The lettering was also done by hand on paper and then scanned in - I felt that drawing out the title logo went well with the somewhat quirky nature of a Tim Burton film. The title lettering can very easily be removed because I have it saved on a separate layer in Photoshop. The final dimensions of this picture are 20" x 30" at 600 dpi.
Completed in December of 2007.
EDIT: All of the work in progress images that I saved from this for my sketch blog can now be viewed together right here in my scraps section.
EDIT 2: Well, I didn't win anything in the contest, but it was fun to participate anyhow. Congrats to the winners!
