This picture was inspired by an art trade between myself and TallyCat. She suggested a handsome sailor with dark hair and blue eyes, and since I always enjoy drawing a pretty face I thought that it seemed like a great suggestion. In return, she drew me not just one, but two pictures of my pirate character, Liam. So enjoy the pretty sailor boy, TallyCat! :) I had fun making it. :ahoy:

The sailor's face was inspired by a photo of the actor who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. When I'm drawing someone, it helps me to have a photo to look at. Just makes drawing bone structure and stuff easier. As such, it's not meant to look exactly like that actor, since it's a loose inspiration. I figured I should just go ahead and mention that inspiration though, to save people from asking me about it in their comments. The ship, sky, and ocean are all based on photographs that I've taken. This was all painted in Photoshop with my tablet and was completed in January of 2006.

Prints are now available!

this is incredible. The combination of blue eyes, dark hair, and tanned skin... classic male beauty. Add those to the most amazing sea background I've seen in a very long time, and you've got yourself an outstanding artwork.

Oh, I just love those eyebrows! XD Something about thick eyebrows just makes me go all wiggly inside. :giggle: Not to mention the beatuful brush strokes in the picture itself. I always admire digital "paintings" where the brush strokes can still be seen, such as in his face and his shirt. And some of the colors are so subtle, it almost looks like a watercolor. The sky in particular. But then some of the colors are so intense, such as his eyes and the darkness of his hair, it could only be obtained by oil or another medium. Such is the wonder of digital art. You can have it all in one piece. Very well done.

He's quite simply beautiful! ^^ The background colors are a nice contrast, but it goes so well. Love that hair! Just makes you wanna reach up and brush it aside!

Soooo... haaaaawt!! He's so incredibly beautiful that I just cannot bring myself to correctly spell the word 'hott'... erm, 'hawt'... around him. I would totally have his beautiful children. Seriously, you always do such a beautiful painting job with all of your artwork. ^.^ Makes meh soooo happy.
