Queen of the Golden Wood by jackieocean Queen of the Golden Wood by jackieocean
Even the simplest of trees can serve as a fitting throne for the graceful elf queen. This is inspired by the art nouveau style of Alphonse Mucha. The drawing was done on paper, inked, scanned, and then completely colored in Photoshop. It was completed in September of 2002.

Even though this is an older drawing, it is still a favorite of mine. I've been toying around with the idea of re-doing it though, because I have learned a ton in terms of digital coloring since when I first made this.

Man, I'd love to have a dress like that too. How awesome would it be if the next trend in the fashion world was art nouveau?

When I get done with my current projects and I can afford to try, I'm so totally gonna (if it's cool with you, of course.) I'll send lots of pictures.

That'd be totally cool! And I'd love to see pictures.

Also, I was looking through your stock account and got some ideas for a piratey picture. I might be sending you a message sometime soon with a few usage questions. :ahoy:

Oh my God! I saw this several years ago on another site... I had no idea you were the artist!

I had never seen Galadriel depicted like this. It's nice to see her in a more natural way than in the film.

I absolutely love this.

Found your gallery through the main page (your Jack Sparrow pic was there) and thought I'd go poking around the rest of it. Even if this is old, it's gorgeous. I love the dress especially. The fashion designer side of me would love to make that. :D

I can't believe one of my pics made it onto the main page. Craziness! That said, I'm glad that you're enjoying looking through my gallery. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

It's too bad people don't make dresses like that. ;)

I think it'd be interesting to see what comes up if you re-did it, but if you don't, then it won't be a loss. It's still good.

Thanks! It's an older piece of mine that I actually want to redo. When I dig out the CD that I have this saved on I'll have to upload a larger copy of this.

It seems a lot of your earliest works here have an art nouveau style to them. I think this is my favorite of those.

I love art nouveau, and was experimenting with it a lot more back then. I still draw on it for influence and inspiration, but I try to adapt it more to my style instead of it being straight art nouveau.

This is really nice! Its so rare to see pics of Galadriel as anything other than stately Lorien queen, whereas this really brings to mind a younger Noldor princess =D

I'd mostly improve the coloring. I was still teaching myself a lot of things in photoshop when I did this picture, and since then I know I can do a better job.
