I drew this for the art community on Live Journal called Art Memes when the theme was Lancelot.

After a few different (and crappy) ideas were sketched out, I decided to go with more of a typical Arthurian Lancelot. So here he is, being all angsty and whatnot. This was sketched in pencil and then painted in Photoshop with my tablet. The painting was kept relatively loose mainly because I was pressed for time. I like the looser look for this though, I think it works with the overall mood of the picture.

Lancelot was an angsty guy. You would be too, if you were loyal to your king but were hopelessly in love with his wife. Lancelot was totally the emo kid of Camelot.

I'm trying to do some photoshop paintings lately too. I was wondering if you could give a few tips, like on what tools and settings you use, etc? ^^

He totally was, though. Of course, there are many more people in the King Arthur book that would have sooo much more reason to be emo. :P Very much so.

Lancy, you are emo, and we love you. He totally had an affair, what more could he have done but condemned himself to emotality?! *shakes fist!* Absolutely gorgeous perspective, though, Jackie-chan, I love the shadings, and the heavy tones around his face make him...well...emo. :XD:

I totally love Lancelot to pieces! Have you read Mists of Avalon? The books have a very interesting take on Lancelot and Gwenhwyvar. This is suitably dark and brooding and also very handsome and rugged. The dark under his eyes is a great touch! He's likely lost more than one night of sleep in worrying his affair would be discovered, not to mention pining for his beloved. :D Total love for this pic! :+fav:

Oh, and the ghostly images of King and Queen in the background.... *thumbs up* rounds off the pic perfectly.
