Last night at work I had "Ring of Fire" stuck in my head due to all the Oscar stuff. One thing led to another, and soon enough I found myself drawing Joaquin Phoenix. He's such a good actor.
I'm still playing around with that style that I've been trying out in a few recent pics, and it was fun trying it out for this picture. I know this definitely isn't one of my best, but I did enjoy making it. I drew and inked this on watercolor paper and then painted over it with a series of ink washes. Then I scanned it and did the coloring in Photoshop with my tablet.
You did a great job of capturing him. Sometimes he doesnt even look like himself. I really like him in Walk the Line, he did such a good job of singing.
I like this style. It works really well.

He's pretty nifty, he's sucha good actor to. If you have or ever get a chance to, watch "The Village" he's really good in that one. Love this poc Btw his eyes look pretty
