Artist's Comments

I wanted to play around with a flatter style, and this illustration came out of that experiment. All of this was composed enitrely in Photoshop with my Wacom tablet. November of 2004.

Prints, puzzles, and magnets of this illustration are now available!

Why do people take by force what they could obtain by love?

Beautiful image! I love the colors and the old storybook feel to it. :D The textures really jump out at me as well. The location of the knees seem a little low or something of the sort, but overall I really, really like it. ;-) Awesome work!!

Glad you like it! Yeah, textures was really something I wanted to focus on in this. And as far as the knees go, I was aiming for a flatter, less realistic looking image than some of my other stuff. That said, now that it's been pointed out they kind of bother me too. D'oh. I may go back and play with that part later today and see if I can get it to look better.

Thanks for the comments :-)

This reminds me of this one book I used to read all the time when I was a kid, "The Princess and the Unicorn". It's got the same cut-out illustration look to it. :+fav:

That book sounds vaguely familiar. I wonder if I've seen it before?

Whoops, I got the title wrong. :oh my god: It's "The Lady and the Unicorn", by Cynthia Birrer. Great story, wouldn't be suprised if you'd read it.

Wow... I feel like an idiot. That was meant to be an :ohmygod:... I'll get this emoticon thing someday.
